NETWORKING

One of Sakhli’s key strategic directions is networking. Our organization is actively involved in national and international initiatives, conferences and trainings organized by different bodies as well as its donors such as UNHCR, UN Women and Oxfam. Sakhli cooperates with key stakeholders in the field of combating domestic and gender-based violence from within the NGO and governmental sector and with local public authorities. Sakhli actively cooperates with following institutions: State Fund for Protection and Assistance of Victims of Trafficking; Public Defender’s Office; Ministry of Education and Science; Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs; Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia; Prosecutor's Office; National Probation Agency, as well as with the  representatives of the academic field and religious and other institutions.

The Head of Sakhli is a member of the Interagency Council on Fighting Domestic Violence. The Council unites the representatives of different governmental and non-governmental organisations and aims to promote measures of combating domestic violence in Georgia.

Since 2012 Sakhli has been a member organization of the WAVE network (Women Against Violence Europe). In 2013, 2017  organization was the  country focal point of the network and regularly submitted  reports on the existing situation (statistics, services, etc) with regards to gender-based violence in the country, participated in the conferences  and events  (e.g. Step Up Campaign) organized by WAV

In the past Sakhli has been involved in following groups and coalitions (which are not active now): working group “Response of the Health Care System on Domestic Violence” established by UNFPA; UN Women “Civil Society Advisory Group”; Georgian “Coalition against Domestic Violence”; “Coalition of Women’s NGOs”.

2001 - Coalition Against Domestic Violence

The Centre was actively involved in the establishment of  the first  Coalition against Domestic Violence in the country, which was created with the support of the US  non-governmental organization Project “Harmony". The members of the coalition were different governmental institutions and NGOs.  The head of Sakhli  was elected as a chair person of the Coalition. In 2002 the Coalition launched a public awareness campaign. The campaign comprised a wide range of activities (TV and radio programs on DV, round tables, press-conference, trainings, etc), which made possible to bring domestic violence issue at public discussion and consideration.

                    Erazmus+ project

In 2017-2019, Consultation Centre for Women   -Sakhli  was involved in the implementation of the project "Love & Respect - youth Violence in relationships Prevention in implementation”.

The goal of the project was to promote  the establishment of   European  partnership among young people in order to prevent partner violence.  The project was funded by the European Union program Erasmus+

and was carried out within the framework of international cooperation. Along with 7 European states - Georgia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Armenia. Our organization has created a web-portal http://love-and-respect.org, which helps professionals work on and prevent violence in youth relationships. The portal also contains an interactive quiz for young people, which can be used to test knowledge about the healthy relationships.

Within the framework of the project, a campaign on healthy relationships  was also carried through the social media  and the study - "Teen dating Violence  in Georgia" (2019) was ccarried out.

Within the framework of cooperation with various organizations, Sakhli has been  expanding the area of  its support to DV survivors/victims  (e.g. legal services, court representation, long-term shelter, etc.) and target audience (psycho-social services of veterans' family representatives, Ukrainian refugees, etc.). In order to provide the mentioned assistance, memorandums of mutual cooperation were signed in different years with the State Care Agency, Legal Aid Service, State Department of Veterans Affairs, etc.
